One of the most popular social media websites in the world right now is Twitter. Over the last few years it has exploded in growth, and today is listed as one of the top 10 most visited websites in the world.
You may or may not have a Twitter account. Chances are you probably already do, & you're probably not quiet sure what to do with it in regards to growing your business. After all you only have 140 characters to work with. There's these crazy #hashtag things. And what in the heck is #FF?
My hope is that this article will help you answer the question: How do I use Twitter to grow my business?
Here's 5 Reasons Why You Should Use Email Marketing
As an independent stylist you need every edge that you can get. You don't have the big advertising budget that the chain salons that you're competing with have. The salon that you pay booth rent to has a sign out front, and an ad in the phone book. Other than that they're not really doing much advertising. You have to take it upon yourself. Due to your small budget you have to make every single dollar spent on marketing count.
Email marketing is that edge. It's one of the most powerful, cost effective marketing tools that any small business can use, and it's one that every independent stylist should be using.

Facebook: Fan Page or a Personal Page?
When it comes to promoting your salon or yourself as a stylist on Facebook one of the first questions that comes to mind: Should I use a fan page or a personal page?
More than likely you already have a personal Facebook page, which is cool. And if you already have a personal Facebook page then you probably already have ton of friends, which is better.
One of the bad things about having a personal Facebook page is that you're limited to 5,000 friends. However, with the new timeline roll out now people who aren't on your friends list can subscribe to you feeds, sort of like following someone on Twitter, and the number of subscribers that one can have is unlimited.
